Building Equitable Partnerships
SHE WINS is Search’s flagship global program that funds and equips women peacebuilders to make change. With support from the Secretary’s Office on Global Women’s Issues (S/GWI) at the U.S. State Department and in partnership with the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego, the project links local changemakers to the resources that they need to realize their vision of peace. SHE WINS works through three streams of work: (1) we support small, under-resourced local women’s groups in Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guatemala, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Somalia, Uzbekistan, and Yemen with specialized capacity building and funding; (2) through the SHE WINS Rapid Response Fund, we fund initiatives that aim to apply women, peace and security objectives locally; (3) and we do evidence-based advocacy to promote womens’ voices and improve the way that local women-led groups access international funding.
Our Strategy
At Search for Common Ground, with nearly 90 percent of staff based in their home country, we see good reason to work with those most affected by violent conflict. Spanning the world, SHE WINS pairs local projects with global networks so we can integrate women activists, share lessons, and shift institutions to a more inclusive dynamic.
