Sudan Sudan
In the face of Sudan’s deepening humanitarian crisis—worsened by the April 2023 war that sparked the world’s largest displacement—Search for Common Ground Sudan quickly regrouped and reignited its mission. Through community dialogues, interactive theatre, psychosocial support, women’s safe spaces, and livelihoods initiatives, our team’s dedication has earned donor trust, local government praise, and a renewed mandate to link peacebuilding with sustainable livelihoods.
Sudan
Sudan has long endured profound humanitarian challenges, but the war that erupted in April 2023 pushed the nation into an unprecedented crisis, triggering the world’s largest wave of displacement. In response, Search for Common Ground Sudan demonstrated extraordinary resilience. Our team reorganized rapidly, delivering impactful initiatives that brought people together, offered healing, and empowered communities.
We hosted community workshops and “coffee conversations” to foster dialogue, used interactive theatre to inspire change, and delivered psychosocial support that gave hope to those affected by conflict. We created safe spaces for women to connect and lead, and launched livelihoods activities that helped families rebuild their lives. These achievements inspired our donor to extend and expand support, impressed local authorities, and positioned us as a leading peacebuilding partner in Sudan.
Today, Search Sudan is recognized as a trusted force in integrating livelihoods with peacebuilding—proving that even in the darkest moments, collaboration, creativity, and resilience can pave the way for lasting peace.
WOMEN, RISE UP!
In Sudan, millions of women face economic and political exclusion, with women refugees facing extra challenges. After our work in South Kordofan to support women’s rights, especially for displaced people, 95 percent of respondents say that they will publicly support equal rights and opportunities.
