Myanmar Earthquake Relief: Urgent Action Needed
A 7.7-Magnitude Earthquake Has Left Thousands in Crisis
On March 28th, a massive earthquake struck Myanmar and Thailand, devastating communities in Sagaing and Mandalay. Over 3,000 people have lost their lives, and the death toll is rising. An estimated 19.5 million people live in the affected areas which is about 20% of Myanmar’s total population and 2.9 Million people were already considered vulnerable prior to the earthquake. Families are displaced, living in the open as aftershocks continue to shake the region. With power outages, food shortages, and a lack of clean water, survival is becoming even more difficult.
