This baseline study aims to measure the initial value of the project indicators and analyze conflict dynamics in Ansongo (communes d’Ansongo, Ouattagouna, Talataye et Tessit) et Gao (communes de Anchawadj, Gounzoureye, Soni Aliber et N’Tillit), as part of a 3 years consortium project with the support of “Foundation facilité G5 Sahel”.
Inequalities in access to infrastructure based on identity are fueling the conflict, particularly with regard to the Peulhs and Arabs, who are accused of being the actors of insecurity. 60% of respondents believe that the available infrastructure does not meet their priority needs, and 27% say that the management of these infrastructures are not inclusive. Moreover, 50% of respondents attest to the existence of conflicts around infrastructure.
This study aims to provide recommendations, in order to guide the implementation of the “G5 Sahel Facility” project activities. These recommendations are addressed to two levels, the State and the project implementing organizations.
