Peacebuilding in a Pandemic

The heart and soul of Search for Common Ground are our 800 colleagues working in 28 countries, nearly all local to our communities. Our top priority during this pandemic is their safety.

We have taken steps to protect our teams, and we communicate daily with one another, sharing resources and ideas on how to support one another and advance our mission during this difficult time.

Though many of us are accustomed to facing crises, this crisis is unprecedented in its global scale and in the permanent impact it will have on millions of lives.

We know that the key to overcoming this pandemic is cooperation.

Many of us are in places heavy with violent conflict where the path to that cooperation is blocked by high communal tensions, weak health services, and distrust for central authorities.

And so we are working to help local communities, governments, and international agencies to work together to manage the pandemic response in a way that minimizes human suffering and prevents the crisis from creating new tears in the social fabric of conflict-affected communities.

To learn more about what we are doing on the frontlines of this pandemic, read Peacebuilders aren’t the side dish. We’re the delivery service.
