Youth Engage is a two-year long project to reduce the involvement of youth in organized violence and promote their constructive role in peacebuilding. A multi-stakeholder collaboration, Youth Engage is funded by the European Union and implemented with Youth Initiative, the Association of Youth Organizations in Nepal, the All People’s Empowerment Center, and New World. The project covers 8 districts of eastern and central Terai – Sunsari, Morang, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, and Rautahat.
We are mobilizing youth-led organizations, civil society actors, and state institutions to reach four specific and a crosscutting goals:
- strengthening the capacity of key civil society, police, local government actors, and youth leaders to work cooperatively to prevent youth engagement in violence;
- promoting platforms for youth advocacy that addresses the causes of violent behavior;
- shifting the public opinion about the positive role that youth can play in peacebuilding and development;
- fostering cooperation among youth, local leaders, security forces and the media to promote youth civic engagement.
