In April 2017, we launched “Together We Are Stronger!”, a project supporting the peaceful return of displaced Malians to their communities.
The 12-month project targets three regions — Mopti and Menaka in Mali, and the region of Niamey (Tillabery) in Niger — and is composed of two different sets of activities. The first one focuses on peacebuilding training and participatory media initiatives for 24 young leaders per region, supported by our local radio partners. The second stream of work focuses on supporting local peacebuilding initiatives led by youth in targeted communities. These include arts contests, sports, and dialogue sessions, and are aimed at lessening tensions around returnees and promoting social cohesion.
