Promoting Women’s Rights, Protection, and Participation in Post-Conflict Situations

With support from UN Women (UNW), we are implementing a 15-month long project in six selected districts of Nepal to promote women’s rights, protection, and participation in post-conflict situations. The initiative is designed to complement the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction’s vision for the implementation of the National Action Plan, and to further realize the objectives of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCRs) 1325 and 1820 in Nepal. The project is a part of the joint UNW and UNDP program Building Peace in Nepal: Ensuring a Participatory and Secure Transition.

The six target districts are Bara, Parsa, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, and Kanchanpur, in the Far West, Mid West and Central regions of the country. The activities aim to strengthen the capability of the District Coordination Committees for the implementation of the National Action Plan on UNSCRs 1325 and 1820; enhance women’s leadership skills in peacebuilding; organize community healing programs; and provide coaching to prepare the participating women for Public Service Commission Examinations.
