Former Sen. Lincoln Chafee Presents John Marks with Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Award

Search for Common Ground received the Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Award for Institutional Excellence, on April 25th, from the Arab American Institute Foundation. Former Senator Lincoln Chafee (R-RI) presented the Award to John Marks, saying:

"I am pleased to have this opportunity to recognize an organization that works on a daily basis to engage people who are in conflict to remake their perceptions and overcome their prejudices, so that "common ground" is laid where initiatives can emerge. In today's parlance, we talk about creating "space" and this is what Search for Common Ground does--it makes space for people to consider different viewpoints, grow in respect for their adversaries, contemplate the root of their positions, and reconcile their ideas with objective and novel information."
