2004 Eliav-Sartawi Awards for Middle Eastern Journalism (founded by the Zel Lurie Journalism Fund)

In 2004, Search for Common Ground held its Awards for Middle Eastern journalism, known as the Eliav-Sartawi Award, funded by the Zel Lurie Journalism Fund.

The articles considered for the 2004 Eliav-Sartawi Awards were published between March 15th 2003 and April 1st 2004, in a recognized newspaper, magazine or other periodical.

Each article submitted for consideration was reviewed by a distinguished international panel of judges including prominent journalists and past awardees. Each winner received a monetary award of one thousand euros at an Award ceremony that took place in Brussels on September 9th, 2004. The ceremony was held at the prestigious "Palais d'Egmont". Belgian Foreign Minister, Karel de Gucht hosted the event.

The 2004 winning articles are:

Affirming the Law and National Will, From Babylon to Beirut by Rami G. Khouri (click here to read biography).

How Coexistence Works Under the Big Top by Imtiyaz Delawala (click here to read biography).
