Internships

Search for Common Ground is frequently looking for people with the right skills and a willingness to work hard to make a difference in the world. Our current internship vacancies are listed below. Unless otherwise noted, all internships are at SFCG's headquarters in Washington, DC.

  1. Africa Program
    The Africa Program intern will work with the rest of the Africa team to provide support to SFCG's programs in sub-Saharan Africa. Duties include proposal research/editing/production, attending policy meetings, tracking legislation, assisting with program literature and general administrative tasks. [more]
  2. Children and Youth
    SFCG's Children and Youth Division provides technical assistance to all programs across the organization by connecting existing children and youth projects to one another, providing information and resources on the most recent developments in the technical field, supporting the development and implementation of new projects, and creating projects across program offices.   3. Communcations
    The Intern for the Communications Department assists in the design and implementation of present and future projects, including the Common Ground Awards and Common Ground Film Festival. [more]
  4. Private Sector Philanthropy
    The Private Sector Philanthropy Program is responsible for developing and cultivating relationships with individuals who "invest" in the work of Search for Common Ground. The team creates and implements strategies that educate individuals about the impact of conflict in the world and the "Common Ground Approach" to transforming conflict. [more]
  5. International Internship Program
    The Search for Common Ground’s International Internship Program is a summer internship program designed to encourage young people interested in pursuing a field in conflict transformation to gain invaluable field experience. The program is open to students (preferably at graduate level) and recent graduates in the USA and internationally, who are self-funded and available to work between 2 and 3 months from May 2009.   6. Institutional Learning Team - DM&E/Knowledge Managment
    SFCG aims to enhance organisational effectiveness through our commitment to excellence in (DM&E) and continuous institutional learning. The main responsibilities of the intern are taking a leading role in compiling and collating information, assisting in coordinating evaluations, providing support for Interactive Module development, and assisting with the production of internal communications.   7. Leadership Wisdom Initiative
    Leadership Wisdom Initiative (LWI) provides transformational leadership and conflict management development for political and civil society leaders worldwide. The LWI intern will, among other tasks, assist the program director on most aspects of the initiative including: project coordination, development of program curricula, and researching funding opportunities.   8. Partners in Humanity
    The Partners in Humanity program is designed to address feelings of mutual fear and suspicion between the West — especially the United States – and the Muslim world. The program intern will provide support for the PiH section of the Common Ground News Service. [more]
  9. Search USA
    The mission of Search for Common Ground-USA is to foster cooperative approaches to resolving public policy issues. The Search USA intern will, among other tasks, assist the program director Jonah Wittkamper on substantive aspects of national consensus building initiatives including: project coordination, publicity, outreach, and researching funding opportunities.
