Internship: Web Production

Search for Common Ground is a Washington-based nonprofit organization that transforms the way people deal with conflict around the world. Using a toolbox that includes media production, journalism, and training and capacity building, SFCG promotes dialogue and understanding and helps groups in conflict move from adversarial approaches toward cooperative solutions. Our website (sfcg.org) explains and promotes our vision and work, and is a primary method of communication with interested organizations, groups and individuals. The web production intern does both technical website maintenence and content writing/editing to ensure that updates are timely, well-written and reflect our work.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Post content to the website obtained from other SFCG staff
  • Write, proof and revise existing web content and incoming content from staff
  • Post and update content onto the website under deadlines
  • Manipulate photo and video media and integrate them into the site
  • Research online trends and assist in developing SFCG's long-term online strategy

The ideal candidate will exhibit:

  • Knowledge of HTML and Photoshop. Knowledge of Dreamweaver and Macs a plus
  • Strong writing skills, especially the ability to summarize complicated projects, programs, etc., into succinct, web-friendly language
  • Strong proofing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with general web trends, writing for the web, e-communications, etc.
  • Strong communcations and organizational skills, including the ability to handle many requests from staff around the world concurrently
  • Knoweldge of HTML and Photoshop. Knowledge of Dreamweaver and Mac OS X a plus
  • Strong interest in conflict transformation, peacebuilding, media for social change, and SFCG's mission and vision
