Internship: Web & New Media
Search for Common Ground’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. We design and implement multifaceted programs that aim to resolve conflict and prevent violence, and we seek to help conflicting parties to understand their differences and act on their commonalities.
Responsibilities:
The SFCG Web Intern will report to the Web & New Media Manager and assist in a variety of online marketing and communications projects, working with vital programs in eighteen countries around the world. Through hands-on training, the Web Intern will learn strategy and tactics for web and email marketing that can be broadly applied to the needs of the nonprofit sector:
Web & Email Marketing
- Update site content and work with SFCG's many country programs to design and develop compelling content
- Format, target, and send mass e-mail communications
- Monitor site traffic and help evaluating strategy
Social Media
- Work with the Social Media & Blog Intern to build relationships and promote SFCG programs across a range of social networks, including Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter
- Collaborate and strategize with Conflict Prevention & Resolution Forum and Great Lakes Policy Forum to enhance online presence
- Film and set up live stream broadcasts of various SFCG events. Create podcasts from events and other video footage
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Proficiency with social networks
- Familiarity with Adobe Fireworks or Photoshop
- Familiarity with live streaming production and archiving
- Commitment to conflict resolution
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
Internship Parameters
The degree of responsibility and involvement available in an internship is directly related to the amount of time spent in the position. Start and end dates are flexible, but the following are the minimums required:
- 10 week commitment
- 24+hours per week
SFCG will work with student applicants to earn appropriate college credit for their internship.
