Biography of Imtiyaz Delawala

2004 winner of the Eliav-Sartawi Awards for Middle East Journalism in the Israeli press category

The winning article, “How Coexistence Works Under the Big Top” was published in the Haaretz Anglo File in December 2003.

Imtiyaz Delawala worked as a reporter and copy editor for the English edition of Haaretz from August 2003 to January 2004. He wrote weekly feature stories for the paper’s "Anglo File" page, which covers Israel’s Anglo community.

He graduated from Harvard College in 2003 with a degree in government, focusing on Middle East studies and American race relations, and was the editor of the University’s daily newspaper, The Harvard Crimson.

In December 2001, he travelled to Israel for a two-week seminar for editors of college newspapers, meeting with Israelis, Palestinians, and various journalists in the country to discuss the Middle East conflict and life in Israel. A Muslim American of Indian descent, he currently works at ABC News in Washington, DC.
