The Shape of the Future

The Shape of the Future documentary series portrays what an eventual Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement could look like. The emphasis is prospective which, in itself, makes this a unique documentary effort. The core idea is to examine, in an even-handed way, the aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians and to show that agreements are possible that do not threaten the national existence of either party.

The documentary series demonstrates that, while not inevitable, peace is possible and that agreement can be reached on the key issues. The series explores the background, the various positions, and the options for settlement in each of the disputed final status issues. The programs look at the following four main issues: Jerusalem, Settlements, Palestinian Refugees, Security and Summary. It also explores normal life and borders. The series was simulcast in 2005 on Israeli, Palestinian, and Arab satellite TV.

Hebrew and Arabic Versions
Four 25-minute segments produced in Hebrew and in Arabic for broadcast on Israeli, Palestinian, and Arab satellite TV, as well as the Shape of the Future music video, In My Heart. Copies are only available in VHS in PAL and NTSC formats. Orders can be placed by contacting Karen Zehr at kzehr@sfcg.org. International Version
Two 50-minute segments produced in English for international audiences. Includes a viewer's guide and the Shape of the Future music video, In My Heart.
