CFO Innovator of the Year Award Presented to
Jack Deeds, Chief Financial Officer, Search for Common Ground

The Greater Washington Society of CPAs presented The CFO Innovator of the Year Award to Jack Deeds, Chief Financial Officer of Search for Common Ground, at the 2008 Not-for-Profit Organization Symposium on November 18th in Washington DC. The annual awards honor financial executives in the Washington area for their exceptional leadership, operational excellence, and a commitment to promoting improved accountability and financial reporting practices.

Jack Deeds has been CFO at Search for Common Ground since 2006 where he oversees the international financial operations 18 countries with approximately 40 finance staff. His duties include finance policies and procedures, working with volunteers, and management of the worldwide information systems. Jack has over 30 years experience in finance, operations, and information technology and most recently served as VP Finance, Technology and Administration for United Way International. He graduated from the University of Maryland.

The Innovator of the Year Award is given to recognize an individual for:

  • Exemplary use of IT & technology that upholds the highest standards of accountability and transparency.
  • Demonstrating outstanding leadership in advocating and promoting innovative and transparent reporting.
  • Fostering ingenuity by embracing new and innovative approaches to provide cost-efficiencies and increased effectiveness in financial processes, procedures, or internal controls.
  • Has made a significant achievement in introducing IT and new technologies to drive efficiency and ensure accuracy of the organization’s financial reporting.
