United States
The mission of the USA program is to foster cooperative approaches to resolving public policy issues. We bring diverse stakeholders together to build consensus solutions to specific, important issues at the national, state and local levels; and we build institutions that foster cooperation and consensus-building over time. We also make use of complementary approaches, such as polling and citizen engagement, so that the views of the public can be actively considered and better inform public policy dialogue.
Race Relations
Search for Common Ground is building
a national program addressing racial
healing and reconciliation in the United
States. With seed funding from the
Kellogg Foundation and the Fetzer
Institute, SFCG and the Faith & Politics
Institute (FPI) conducted wide-ranging
research, including interviews with over
60 experts and a comprehensive survey
of racial justice and equity organizations
nationwide. In July 2009, SFCG and FPI
convened 30 key leaders for a three-day
Working Group to address the question, "What would it take to heal the wounds of
racism in the U.S.?" SFCG took the group's
recommendations, matched them with
SFCG's mission and expertise, and created
Search for Common Ground on Race.

Nexus
The mission of Search for Common Ground is to transform the way the world deals with conflict and power. Traditionally our programs in the United States have focused on politics, but in the past few years we have developed new programs in the field of philanthropy.
The world is at a crossroads. Social and environmental tensions are growing. Technology has made the global village increasingly inter-connected and inter-dependent. People everywhere are seeking transformative ideas, new resources and new leadership to ensure a peaceful and sustainable future. And younger generations are rising to meet the challenge.
To put the hope and promise of young people on the world stage, leaders will come together in New York City this fall, from 19-22 September 2012, for The 2012 Nexus: Global Youth Summit on Innovative Philanthropy.
What is Common Ground Philanthropy? Many of the same social, cultural, and religious movements that influence politics are at play in grant-making and charity. By nature, the decisions that people make are informed by their underlying values. Non-adversarial approaches to problem solving and philanthropy are characterized by collaboration, consultation with diverse parties, and participatory decision-making processes.

Partners in Humanity
In recognition of increasing Islamophobia, threats to religious freedom and other forms of intolerance in the United States, Partners in Humanity's America's Common Ground project aims to shift the current paradigm to one of common respect for religious tolerance and liberty.
To launch this effort, Search for Common Ground has created a short video based on a series of interviews with civic and thought leaders from a diverse range of political and religious affiliations.
