SFCG Sierra Leone
While Sierra Leone has achieved an end to its ten-year civil war, the peace is still fragile. Thousands of ex-combatants need to be reintegrated into communities. Families and communities need to recover from the trauma they have suffered in the conflict. Thousands of refugees are flooding back to Sierra Leone, seeking to return to their homes and families and restart their lives. The root causes of the war remain to be addressed. Search for Common Ground seeks to use media and outreach as tools to help find solutions to ongoing and new conflicts in Sierra Leone, in part by promoting local, national and sub-regional dialogue. This programme works in conjunction with our Liberia and Guinea programmes for greater peace and stability in West Africa.
