Improve intra-community relationships through capacity building

Within the framework of a partnership between the British embassy in Rabat and Search for Common Ground - Morocco, a number of training seminars are to be carried out on the techniques of conflict resolution, mediation and project management, to the benefit of a total of 150 associative leaders representing 75 Moroccan associations who work in the field of social development of the young populations in the underprivileged districts of Fès, Oujda, El Hoceïma, Kenitra, Errisani and Marrakech.

These training programs aim at improving the efficiency of these associations, by reinforcing their human and technical capacities, related to their work with excluded communities. The workshops revolve around themes such as nonviolent communication, management of community conflicts, mediation, negotiation principles and techniques.

These tools, which are essential to field work, will allow the associations' leaders to better manage daily conflicts, to achieve a better understanding of their communities, and to be better armed to meet the real needs of their beneficiaries, thanks to the training module devoted to the management and project formulation.

The project was launched the 26th of July 2006 in the city of Fés. During three days, 25 representatives of the region's associations were trained in techniques of mediation, communication and project management. The next activity will take place in Kenitra on October 2006, involving another 25 representatives of the Kenitra region's associative structures.
