The European Foundation Centre (EFC) is an independent, international not-for-profit association registered under Belgian law that promotes and underpins the work of foundations and corporate funders active in and with Europe. Established in 1989, the EFC has a membership of over 160 independent funders and serves an additional 7,000 organizations linked through networking centers in thirty-five countries across Europe.
In addition to representing the interests of member organizations to national governments and to European Union institutions, the Centre also undertakes a number of target-ed initiatives to promote philanthropy in Europe and produces directories, reference books and periodicals.
Among its publications is a directory entitled Mediterranean Funding, which profiles 126 foundations and corporate funders active in the Mediterranean Region. Each profile includes contact information, a statement of the funder’s origin and purpose, a review of major activities, and a list of trustees and executives. The cost is EUR 45/US$55.00.
