Conflict Resolution Games
As a tool designed to help kids identify what conflict is, how conflicts grow, and how conflicts can be resolved, the Conflict Resolution Games Project, promoted by SCGM in partnership with the Ethnic Conflict Resolution Project, operated in nearly 100 schools and involved a yearlong curriculum of games. The goal was that Macedonia would have resources and a strategy to implement an effective conflict resolution program in their educational system.

In late September 2000, representatives of Macedonian education met to discuss the future of the project "conflict resolution games" that has been running in fourth grade classrooms for four years throughout Macedonia. Thirty-one representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Faculty of Pedagogy, and the Pedagogical Institute participated. Overall the meeting was very positive and many of those present asked specifically to be engaged in the program from this point forward.
One of the presenters was Pierre LeBlanc of the Canadian Institute for Applied Negotiation who presented the results from his evaluation of the program. His results clearly indicated an impact on the children involved in the program through comparison with control schools in which the program was not implemented. Mr. LeBlanc recommended that the program be expanded not only to other schools, but also to other grades within the schools as well so as to create a more comprehensive approach.
This program is now run solely by the ECRP.
