Comic Book Production
The comic book follows the story of Serge, a young Congolese soldier who struggles for his country and, despite the actions of his fellow soldiers, tries to play a positive role looking out for the community members he is meant to protect.
The comic contrasts Serge’s actions and behaviour with those of Janvier, an army colonel who harasses the population at every turn and who only looks out for himself.
Through these two characters, the comic book shows the protection role that the new army is meant to play, as well as highlights the values, responsibilities, and rights of the individual soldiers toward the local communities. In addition, the comic models how civilians can work to combat impunity and stresses the importance of collaboration with the army in restoring confidence in the country’s judicial system.
