Summary

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is a non-profit organization that works to transform the way the world deals with conflict – away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative problem solving. The intern will support the Brussels Office in providing support to SFCG’s fundraising and projects in the region. For more information on our projects, please visit www.sfcg.org. The internship will start on the 3rd of September and will last four months, although a different duration can be arranged. The last day to apply is the 8th of July, 2012. 



Responsibilities

Duties for this unpaid internship positions include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributing to desk research on the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Western Balkans;
  • Helping with the production of grant proposals;
  • Attending policy meetings and taking notes;
  • Backstopping the Europe Team and country offices overseas;
  • Assisting with website, program literature and database system maintenance;
  • Translating documents;
  • Various administrative tasks.


Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will exhibit:

  • Good writing, editing and communication skills (required);
  • English (required) and French (preferred) fluency;
  • A self-starting, detail-oriented and flexible approach to tasks (required);
  • Demonstrable interest in the conflict transformation field (required).
For this position, the intern should be able to work at least 20 hours a week, ideally spread over 4 or 5 days.  Please note that this position is unpaid. Credit can be arranged for students with their institution. For international applicants, Search for Common Ground is not responsible for providing student or work visas; you will need to make your own visa arrangements.
