Partners in Humanity
for constructive and vibrant Muslim-Western relations
The Partners in Humanity programme envisions a world where the environment of fear, suspicion and misunderstanding that affects Muslim-Western relations is replaced by constructive interactions and vibrant relationships. Partners in Humanity works to positively affect how individuals and groups in the West and Muslim world think and feel about cross-cultural issues. Media Training
Common Ground Media workshops help civil society and media professionals leverage the power of media as a tool for peace-building on local, regional and global levels. 126 participants were trained in the following workshops:
- Asia Pacific Media Professionals Workshop - Jakarta 2008
- Bangladeshi-Pakistani Common Ground Media/Media Outreach Twin Workshops - Kathmandu 2008.
- Arab Media Outreach Workshop - Beirut 2006
- Indonesian and Malaysian Media Outreach Workshop – Jakarta 2006
- Al Jazeera Common Ground Media Workshop – Doha 2004

Travel Documentary - Middle East and United States
A six-part documentary series The Bridge is in production, and tells the stories of Middle Easterners and Americans who drop in on each others’ lives. Directors Jon Alpert and Matthew O'Neill won three Emmys in 2006 for their HBO documentary, Baghdad ER.
Common Ground Productions teamed with DCTV and Video Cairo Sat in 2007 to produce the hour-long pilot that aired on the Hallmark Channel in December, 2007.(A clip is available on YouTube).

Terminology in Muslim-Western Dialogue
The language used to discuss Muslim-Western relations is consistently misused, misunderstood or taken out of context, fanning the flames of extremism and mistrust on all sides. This English-language guide to "Terminology in Muslim-Western Relations" provides explanations and suggest alternatives to the most frequently misused terms.

U.S.-Muslim Engagement Project (2006-2008)
SFCG-USA and the Consensus Building Institute conducted a groundbreaking, interdisciplinary leadership dialogue and public engagement process to improve US-Muslim relations. On 24 September 2008, the US-Muslim Engagement Project released the report Changing Course: A New Direction for U.S. Relations with the Muslim World (published in both English and Arabic) - the first bipartisan, interfaith US leadership consensus on a comprehensive approach to improve US-Muslim relations. Student Leaders Convention (2004)
In partnership with Soliya, a program working to bridge the divide between the West and the Muslim world through developing a global network among youth, SFCG convened student leaders from the United States and the MENA region in dialogue using advanced internet web conferencing and media production tools. Since then, over 800 students from 30 universities in the United States, Europe, and the MENA region have participated in the Soliya Connect Program.

Muslim-Western Relations Summit (2003)
Over 60 non-governmental organizations, media professionals, government agencies, and international organizations - all catalysts and facilitators of Muslim-Western dialogue - convened in Amman, Jordan in July 2003 under the joint auspices of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal and SFCG to generated an action plan for the Partners in Humanity programme. |

Questions from America by the Grand Mufti of Egypt
Inspired by the CGNews-PiH Series on "Ijtihad - interpreting Islamic principles for modern challenges”, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Shaykh Ali Gomaa, wrote his own six part series which ran in Arabic in Egypt's Al Ahram newspaper.
